So I started out with what was supposed to be a color practice becuase Swanland is a beast and I want to be just like him when I grow up. It ended up being a 4 hour copyfest and I spent way too much time on this though. Really was more of a color study so I didn't match everything stoke for stroke.

I will start posting real stuff soon I hope (hopefully with a more Swanlandy feel). Just had a lot going on.

In case it is in question
Raymond Swanland's version is the face on the left.

Lol, thanks Yog!

I feel like a huge tool posting stuff like this. Plus when you search Swanland on DA a couple my things pop up now lol. Like I am farming for hits or something.

The colour and lighting is a pretty decent match; so successful practice, I would say! Really the only differences are that yours is in a rougher edgier style than Swanland's which is wispyer in the hair and the transitional values in the skin are more blended. Depending on the nature of the work as a whole - either style would fit.

Thank you for the well thought out comment. I have wanted to learn his style now for while. I think I am a bit closer now.

There are some inconsistencies with the facial structure too. I noticed them early enough I should have done something about it.

Teach me the ways of being people. :P

This one is garbage. But I copied from an artist I admire. Everything you want to know can be found by cop-AHEM, studying.
